I am well-known to be TERRIBLE at writing anything longer than a one-shot (or, okay, a massive sprawling RP), but some stories are just too complex to complete in under 10,000 words, and too interesting to give up.
So here's Chapter Two of This Broken World We Choose, in which Ryouma's parents meet and fall into angsty angsty love. Or, at least, lust.

Readers,
Some of you may have noticed that Insanejournal has changed its advertising policies, and that random words in threads are now highlighted links to ads. We're as upset as you are about this. (Maybe more so. There have been some STRONG WORDS.)
Insanejournal's statement on the new advertising scheme is this:
Due to forces outside of our control, we have had to change our ad provider. Our previous ad provider decided that we no longer were a fit for them. I was very very happy with this provider, but now have been forced to move onto our second choice.
While this may cause some pain to our end users, ads are an unfortunate necessity to keep the site up and running. If you run into any problems with the ads on the site (i.e. spyware, crashing, or pornographic ads), please let me know so we can resolve this ASAP.
Thank you for your understanding.
We are doing our best to open a dialogue with Insanejournal's owners about the new advertising scheme, which is far more invasive than previous designs. We are deeply concerned about the impact that this new advertising scheme has on your reading experience.
Please go here to leave your own comments urging Insanejournal to change their policy of placing ads within the text itself.
We appreciate your support.
ETA: I've already heard some good news back from Insanejournal's owner, who told me, "We are removing the link ads from the content pages, but for the time being we will be leaving them on profiles for testing effectiveness." However, this change may take several hours to take effect.
That said, PLEASE do not hesitate to leave your comments supporting Insanejournal's new decision NOT to take this new advertising route. We view this as a very, very dangerous and almost crippling invasion of our writing, and we really don't want to see them change their minds again! Please let Insanejournal know how damaging this new ad scheme is to the reading experience and how much you support their decision not to follow through with it. |

Plagued by nightmares, Katsuko just wants to get drunk and sleep, but blowing a hole in Konoha with uncontrolled chakra is not a good way to get cathartic. Ryouma might have sympathy, but Kakashi has seals, and Katsuko only wants a guard for one night.

In A Light That Never Goes Out, Kakashi wakes up to find Ryouma gone again. The day gets stranger from there.
In a slight change of pace, Ki and I have done something stylistically different and written a thread entirely from one point of view. A Light That Never Goes Out is a three-part oneshot that follows a day in the life with Kakashi and Ryouma--which, predictably, is nothing like any other day.
Warning: the final part contains sexually explicit material and is R-rated.

In September Genma has an Eros mission. His usual handler Hajime is there, but Raidou's not the muscle this time; it's a jounin Genma only knows by reputation — that girl with the fucked up chakra who got experimented on in captivity. Katsuko knows Genma by reputation, too — the guy from Eros with the messed up hands who survived capture and torture more than once. In the aftermath of a flawlessly executed mission, they bond about the things that usually keep them just a little separate from everyone else.

Two months ago, I offered to write Dark a fic for his birthday present. He asked for the story of Ryouma's parents' first meeting, and I jumped at the opportunity to explore a story Ryouma doesn't know and I'd always wanted to discover.
As usual, the story didn't go anywhere near where I'd expected it to. That's part of the fun. Sequels may come, in time, but for now I hope you'll enjoy This Broken World We Choose, in which there are missions, make-outs (and more), and way too much angst for anyone's health. (On the other hand...these are Ryouma's parents. What did you expect?)
